This method can be done with other high demand profession crafted items as well. I would like to point out that with the advent of dual specs in 3.1 and different glyph tables with primary and secondary specs the need of buying glyphs when re-specing will dramatically fall. Just my opinion on the outlook of this enterprise.

@ Skinny-Jay – There has been a lot of speculation of where the glyph market is heading after the Dual-Specialization feature. A lot of people are assuming demand for them is going to drop dramatically once everyone settles in to their two specs. However, there will be a huge burst of buyers for the first week or two. Along with new glyphs to be researched, there will be some good money making opportunities during this period. Some economies will react differently, specifically ones with tons of scribes ready to unload hundreds of glyphs, undercutting each other on patch day.

@ Argon – Industries like the glyph and gem ones do take a bit of time to do. With massive buying, crafting, listing, and re-listing, it can become a handful compared to say crafting a few BOE epics. Markets like these may not be for everyone, which is one reason for guest writers. They give insight on the diverse ways of making gold in the WoW economy.

Making gold from the auction house isn’t for everyone. One of the most important things to remember is the big auction house players on your server know how to adapt to the economy and still profit no matter what. By no means is it as easy as farming some level 60 instance, it’s a different meta game you play within WoW. Gold making advice is just that, it is what you do with it that makes a difference. As an example, I had giving out one of the easiest gold making tips to two friends. Like me, I told them to craft leg armor kits back in TBC ( http://www.warcraftecon.net/?p=7 ). The profit margins were huge, around 100-150g per kit sold. All they had to do was buy out mats and sell the kit. Obviously we were going to be competing in the same market, so the undercutting wars began. The advantage that I had, which eventually led them to give up and sell me the rest of their kits for cheap, was that I had enough capital and inventory to push them out of the market as well as being good at it. Some people just don’t want to put the work into checking prices, undercutting, listing items, and re-listing them when they expire. This is on top of buying out low priced materials when you scan for them everyday, if not multiple times a day and crafting various items. They would list 2 at a time, which shortly after I undercut, then they would list 2 more. The cycle continued till they ran out of kits. This is no different than the competition you face in your own economy. Those who are good at it will continue to be no matter what. It is how you adapt and make the so called gold making advice work for you. In most cases, there will always be someone doing the same thing and therefore competing against you. Those that have learned to get past this and become one of the “competition” that players talk about are the ones who have made 5-6 figures.

In this case, this method worked for this specific player. Obviously they had found out what works for them and ran with the idea. Finding your own niche on the auction house is nice way to profit, however finding it may be the hard part. Once you settle into your own market, usually shared with a few other people, it really starts feeling like easy gold. That is one reason why it is so easy to say it is as easy as 1-2-3 when explaning it to other people.

I can actually verify all of what is said here. I arrived at pretty much exactly what this article proposes through trial and error on my own realm, and it works like a charm! I’ve found that I make about 1800g a day on profit from glyphs when I keep the market stocked.

Oh course this is HIGHLY dependent on the server economy. On some realms, such as the one I have my Alliance toon on (my main being Horde), the glyph market is far too saturated to make much of a profit.

On my server, people price them for less than it costs to make them. Every time I go to post one, they’re up there for 20 silver. I try to keep up and buy them all out but there seems to be an unlimited supply, and people keep crashing the market. It’s gotten to the point that when people approach me, they honestly think the glyphs are worth 10 silver (ink of the sea, discovered glyphs, etc.. all of them)

Hi guys im on an oceanic server Dreadmaul commonly nicknamed Deadmaul but is it worth Starting up a glyph industry now? herbs like goldclover are at 28g a stack adder’s tongue at 32g per stack and so on At the moment i have my lv 80 hunter with mining and herbalism both maxed and my 65 Dk with 437 Jc and #350 enchanting i was thinking farm up 2 guild bank tabs of Northrend herbs and then using them as prices are so high or is it not worth it beacause of the upcoming dual spec whats your verdict?

Im still farming herbs i just hope the patch doesnt come till june like rumored on my server…..

I am a scribe(410) on dragonblight and there are quite a few other scribes and plenty of morons that undercut by astronomical numbers. I believe in the glyphs being moderately priced so that the scribe can make a bit of gold and the purchaser doesn’t feel like they have gotten robbed. With the newest patch out now ppl have lost their minds and you have to stay at it on your goods or you would never sell any glyphs at all.. I started a guild bank just to be able to effectively adventure and still make some gold by having an alt at the AH.

But as in all sellable items i expect there are AH campers that just wait for you to log out to uc you again. I have made enough cash in a couple months to afford epic flying and mounts with about 6k gold to spare.

So in closing my point is you can make cash via glyphmaking but you really have to camp with the rest of the campers to make it worth your while. All in all i wish that I had taken a different proffession..lol.
