Guest Post: Inscription & Glyph Market

This money making tip is about selling glyphs, not darkmoon cards, which is not a bad method of profiting also. Gevlon from Greedy Goblin also loves the glyph industry.

Inscription
If you are not an herbalist, profit in Inscription depends on two major variables:
-the number of people currently putting up glyphs (how far down is the price)
-and the cost of herbs on the AH
The process of posting the glyphs takes me about 3 hours, and nets me about 3000-4000g profit over the course of the 48 hours they are posted. I use my scribe that knows 100% of the glyphs.
1) Purchase mats to get to ~ 100 inks of each level. (100 ink of the sea, 100 shining ink, etc…)
If prices are being reasonable, this normally takes about 1000 gold. As of late, the thing to do if prices get nutty is just check the AH daily and snag only reasonable items, say for a week. Until you get to the point of 100 inks of each type.
2) Craft 5 of each type of glyph you find on the AH that is going for over 10g.
The way I do this is with 2 accounts. On the one I’m using auctioneer to go through glyphs sorted by price, and the other is the glyph maker. This takes about 10-20 minutes per class.
3) Sell em!
Undercutting by 10%, put 5 single stacks of the glyphs on the AH for 48 hrs. The cost is only 10 silver each!
4) Profit breakdown
I ususally sell about 70% of the 600 glyphs posted, at an average price of 12.5g.
Gross Profit: 420 x 12.5 = 5250g
Initial price: 1100g materials
AH price: 60g posting
Net Profit: 4090g
Individual results vary week to week. As I got into this I found it got easier and easier as I think I drove others away from the market.
