Professions Inside Ulduar

Ulduar is a great place for some professions, but so far nothing that benefits Jewelcrafters yet. We found that you can use all 3 of the basic gathering professions as well as fishing and salvaging. In addition, there are a few more reasons to kill extra trash mobs aside from increasing your chances of an Epic trash drop. For those that may not have the most interesting professions listed below, free up some bag space for vendor trash and green items. All these little things add up at the end of the week and can help offset some of the repair costs. While we are still unsure, but the bosses look like the drop slightly more gold than the ones in Naxx. A full clear Naxx10 we recall can drop around 260g after vendor trash. In Ulduar, this number is probably closer to 300g for a full clear.

Mining

Various elemental trash mobs throughout the instance can be mined. Uncut rare gems as well as up to 2 [Crystallized Earth] drop off these mobs. Further into the instance, where General Vezax resides, there are 2 nodes of [Pure Saronite Deposit] that respawn when the trash do. These nodes can contain up to 2 stacks of [Saronite Ore], rare gems, uncommon gems, and eternals.

Herbalism

Freya’s outdoor area contains herbs, including [Frost Lous] that can be gathered. If you let the trash mobs respawn by not killing Freya, the herbs will also respawn.

Skinning

Loot the Core Hounds! Hodir’s trash contains a good amount of Jormungar Worms that can be skinned. They spawn out of the snow mounds if you come close to it. Some mounds can be skipped as well, but they are an easy AOE trash pull by themselves. Expect [Borean Leather], [Jormungar Scale], and on occasion [Arctic Fur]. Razorscale unfortunately is unskinnable.

Fishing

Ignis’ room and the Freya’s outdoor location contain open water that can be fished from. Nothing too special about the fish here, it’s mostly junk, Wowhead.com has a list of what has been fished up so far.

Engineering

Confirmed that Flame Leviathan,  XT-002 Deconstructor, and Mimiron can be salvaged by Engineers. I have seen up to 20 [Saronite Bar] and 6-9 Eternals in a single hit. They can also drop various Engineering related items, [Cobalt Bar] and a single [Titansteel Bar] on rare occasions. There is also a small chance to drop the one of the vendor materials for the [Mechano-hog] like the [Elementium-plated Exhaust Pipe], a 1500g item! There was a rumor way back in Wotlk beta that some of the motorcycle mount materials can be salvaged, but we never saw anything about it until now.

Leatherworking, Tailoring, Blacksmithing

[Runed Orb] patterns drop for these 3 armor crafters in Ulduar25 only. They all are ilevel 226 BOE epics, with the recipe being BOE as well. So this means both the recipe and crafted gear can be freely traded or sold. Some of the crafted stuff is best in slot if not in the top 3 for most classes. [Runed Orb]‘s also have a chance to drop when doing Ulduar10 hard modes, even Flame Leviathan with a single tower up/down.

Alchemy

An [Alchemist's Cache] drops with Freya’s loot table, but this is a BOP item that only a 425+ Alchemist can open. If you do not have one in the raid, your out of luck. They contain various flasks, potions, herbs, eternals, and vials. There is about 90-100 total items in there! However your raid decides to handle the distribution of this loot, it may be good idea to bring someone who is an Alchemist if you raid decides to split up the contents. The main argument here is that skinners, miners, engineers, and herbalists get to keep their loots while Enchanters and Alchemists may have to distribute their items at the end of the raid.

Enchanting

Two new BOP epic recipes, aimed at tanking, drop in Ulduar25 for Enchanters only. They are [Enchant Weapon - Blade Ward] and [Enchant Weapon - Blood Draining].

Inscription

Trash mobs in here also have a small chance to drop [Book of Glyph Mastery].

First Aid

The [Manual: Heavy Frostweave Bandage] is a random drop in here if you don’t have it already.

Cooking

The 4 “emotion” food recipes are a random drop in here as well.
