The Definitive PvP Profit Compendium

arena? My pvp credentials are in the auction house, and gold pieces are my points – random person on trade chat

While not every pvper will get a deadly of furious gladiator frost wyrm, with this guide you’ll be well on your way however to a mechano hog or traveller’s tundra !

This guide is for everyone, from the most casual player who barely indulges in pvp, to the arena master.

No matter how pvp averse one might be, odds are good that you would happen to have a sizable store of stonekeeper shards. You can check your currency tab, under pvp, to see how many of these tokens you currently have. They are obtained from downing bosses in heroics while wintergrasp remains in your faction’s control, or when you turn in wintergrasp quests.

If you have at least 20 of those, then congrats, you just have a potential 44-115 gold sitting right there. Pop by wintergrasp when it is under your faction’s control, and visit the quartermaster in the fortress. You’ll see the gem [Kharmaa's Grace]. Purchase as many as you wish and haul it off to your friendly neighborhood auction house. Selling at any amount over 40 gold would be ideal for quick profit, but if you can wait for a time where there are no other gems listed you can place them up for probably 80 gold or more, and stand to make much more.

Kharmaa's Grace

If you wish to know more about this gem and why it is valuable, you can read a more detailed breakdown at this item coverage, whereupon I cover it in greater depth. The TL;DR version is that it is a gem highly sought after by pvpers, being the only epic resilience gem.

While you’re in wintergrasp anyway, you might be wondering what to do with the honor points you’ve accumulated as a byproduct. You can refer to a previous post  right here on warcraftecon.net on how to liquidate honor. You may refer to that for a more extensive overview, but the key takeaway is that 10,000 honor can be translated to rare blue quality gems like scarlet rubies or monarch topazes. I suspect twinks who have amassed honor caps at 75k should also be able to take part in the purchase.

Wintergrasp Commendation

And since you’re already in the area, why not dabble your hand and take up some of the daily quests here? Simply ask for an invite to a wintergrasp raid when it begins, and request for quest sharing. Follow the general mob of your raid group and you should easily obtain the quest objectives of killing 10 players of the opposing faction, and defending/destroying 3 siege vehicles. If luck is with you that fight, your side will win and you will be able to also complete the victory quest. Each of these quests give 1241 honor and 13.23 gold, as well as 1-3 stonekeeper shards. You can use the afore-mentioned tips to turn them into gold.

To add further to your new-found pvp Midas touch, you can also convert the wg marks into honor and thus gems. In all these, make sure to loot any and all corpses in the area, because they can give as much as 1.5 gold! I suspect the most lucrative gold chests comes from those first lieutenants, so I total a vehicle and loot the corpses.

Finally, if on top of all these you also happen to have a vested interest in arenas you would be delighted to know that you can convert arena points into honor and thus gems, as the host of this site has pointed out on twitter! Do this if you have any spare arena points to spend and you need to liquidate them.

Now that we’ve come to the end of this compendium, its time to go out there and melt some faces!

p.s. wintergrasp is also a location for the fishing daily terrorfish and the JC daily for elemental revenants, so you can chain those quests into your daily load.

Sherry Faith is always busy researching new gold ideas, especially now with the immense guild repair costs from ulduar wearing down on her reserves. You can read more about her fiduciary exploits here at her personal site meidvhgold.

How about an article on deflation in wow?

On my server nearly everything is tanking. Profits from jewel crafting, enchanting, inscription and alchemy have all gone down hill. I’m barely and pulling 1k per week and then if I’m lucky.

Yes, deflation is becoming quite a problem.
The only business that remained profitable has been glyphing, but even that is drying up. (books have dropped from 3.5k to 700g and dropping even further today)

Is there any particular element you would want extensive detail on?

I’ve made just over 16k since the patch and absolutely see how things are slipping towards a normal average price for many items that were very hot initially.

My main source of income right now is flasks (Endless Rage). I’m fortunate enough to have a daughter that has an herbing toon and my husband an alchemist. Every day I farm for an hour or so in the afternoon and generally will make 400-500g per night on flasks. Staying in the AH and keeping an eye during that time.

There may be items that plunge for a couple of days and then pop up again on the weekend. Frost lotus are now selling at an all time high on our server at 35g per. Crazy. I had save 139 frost lotus before the patch and paid no more than 8g for any I purchased.

Just keep checking items and watch for peak periods.

Awesome! NOT! Good job on educating the public on how to fail at WG. How about writing a guide on succeeding at WG? You’ll get more honor, not be hated, understand something fun, and thus get more gold from more honor.

    Cathy:
Flask of endless rage, sounds like Gevlon is using the same market as you! Quite a bit of the markets I’ve frequented have been battered with the patch. Did you manage to sell your frost lotuses? I think a reader of my blog also stocked up on cheap frost lotuses.

    Charlie:
Would you care to explain what you mean?
I do not really get what you are saying!
