3.2 PTR Titanium Ore Prospecting Video and Results

Prospecting Data

Updated: 39 Stacks - 780 Ore - 156 Prospects

We are still in the process of transfering more ore to the PTR, so we will report results for a larger sample size soon. In the mean time, the largest sample prospected is by Ranjurm from the Elitist Jerks forums. They prospected 141 stacks of [Titanium Ore] or 564 total prospects and their results were:

  • Epic Gems: 130
  • Rare Gems: 148
  • Uncommon: 846
  • Powder: 417

Chance per stack of ore:

  • Epic: .92
  • Rare: 1.05
  • Uncommon: 6.00
  • Powder: 2.95

I would put forth that the actual values are as follows:

  • Epic: 1
  • Rare: 1
  • Uncommon: 6
  • Powder: 3

Is this a hint to buy all titanium ore before the patch? :)

  • Turval

My numbers are very similar, form eu-ptr over the last 12 hours.

    Also 780 ore (over two login sessions);

    Epic: 46
    Rare: 41
    Uncommon: 222
    Powder: 101

Looks like RNG favoured me just a little with the epic drops, but the same 1,1,3,6 ballpark

WOOT…I’m very excited:) I’ve farmed alot of titanium lately. now just need to get myself back to doing the JC daily. Nice to turn in the powders. That will help for sure.

  • Lipadoza

I wonder for howmuch Epic gems will sell, ive stacked up 160 titanium ore stacks so far and im doing JC daily’s when I can

Titanium ore 120g-180g/stack (my realm) so I wonder…
300g>500g a gem at start I gues. assuming ill have about 50 tokens out of it 150gems. Not to mention ive stacked up Hundreds of rare gems and eternals. meh..

I’m pretty annoyed at the titanium on my server (Magtheridon US) actually. What ore is up on Ah is listed at 300+% mark up (thanks you mining readers that are jacking up the prices already >.>). But since I’m a miner too I figured I have some time to go farm it in bulk before patch time. Of about four hours spent farming already I’ve only gotten 32 pieces of titanium ore! I would guess there are lots of people out there trying to do the same thing as me but I swear a month ago I could fly around Ice Crown (I usually find more titanium there than in SBasin) and hit 3 titanium nodes in a row. Post patch news I was making titansteel bars like crazy cause of all the ore I’d come across but now… hardly anything :/

  • Lipadoza

Titanium ore went to 150-200 /stack but now they rocketed to a fukin amazing 400-500g/stack >.>, even titanium bars go for insane amounts its like “just dinged 80″ all over again, good for bussiness tho. but you US realm players shouldnt complain as goldsellers/farmers get banned more often = less Ni hao fucktards grinding their asses of ninjaing your nodes 24/7 @ 500yenn a day. (bad for the ppl trying to make gold farming good for auctioneers buying mass @ cheap)

  • Gaaz

So what’s up with transfering all the ores to the PTR server?

Will you have them ” prospected ” and ready for the patch or wuut ?

  • Moe

I’ve bought 6200ore/310stacks so far at a price ranging from 110-160g. So far I’m committed with 46500g in ore, I have a small fear tho, that the market is going to collapse when all casual players throws there few stacks of farmed ore at AH after patch.

But if this happens I suspect it will only be a temporarily drop hopefully.

Great articles as always Warcraft Econ!

Wow, I’m impressed at the large investment, that is awesome. Let us know how it works out, that is such a huge sample size to work with too.

  • TheFraz

Okay… here’s the flip side to this shiny new coin… I’m a JC and have about 75 stacks socked away… I really wish it was ALOT more but we are a smaller realm so gotta roll with what you’re given…

Now 75 stacks that I paid between 60-120g per stack

Do I… Prospect the hell out of em and wallow in the dust…. Dust, yea I will need it cause going into the patch I’ll be lucky to have 50 JC tokens…

OR… do I post em all on day one and make a what I think is going to be the biggest killing of my wow life…

What to do, what to do?

More dust = more JC tokens = being able to cut more/different and unique epic gem cuts = lots of fast profit from the hard core players but as the other JCs get more tokens those profits will drop pretty quickly I think…

It only takes 1 other JC to know the same cut as you and you could end up in a stupid price war…. Something that I for one would like to try and avoid.

    Thoughts?

    Very nice work.

Therefore, if we assume the following values:

1 Rare Gem is worth on average 10g
1 Uncommon is worth on average 1g
1 Ore can be had at auction for about 12g (true on Norgannon, at least)

As long as Epic Gems sell for at least an average of 232g, you’ll break even prospecting titanium, with the AH cut accounted for. My guess is that they’ll go for an average of 300g, for an expected profit of 64.95g per stack. Certainly not shabby.
