Unlocking the Broiled Dragon Feast Recipe

Update: Cooking Starfire Espresso no longer counts towards the achievement. Make sure the food you are cooking contributes to the achievement if you are going to buy out the materials to do it.

So last night, we ended up getting the achievement [Set the Oven to "Cataclysmic"] which rewards [Recipe: Broiled Dragon Feast Recipe]. You have to be Honored with your guild to buy the recipe. However since guild reputation is bugged right now and won’t let the majority of players go past Friendly. We just happened to level a few hundred points into Honored so we have access to the recipe. Upon cooking it and placing it on the ground, we were happy to see that the feast stands about as tall as a mailbox! No more telling people to move off of the feast on the ground that’s only a few pixels high. We can only image what new Cauldrons are going to look like.  Hopefully on Tuesday, Blizzard will fix the guild reputation cap.

How to Unlock It

Well you could do it the hard way and cook the item level 85 Cataclysm food, usually the recipes that require 500+ skill. Or you can use [Recipe: Starfire Espresso], a 450 recipe that only uses materials from the vendor. We were about 1000 points into the achievement, so the total cost for the other 4000 was about 1000g total. Make sure to use a [Chef's Hat] or else this will be painfully slow. It took us almost an hour. Cooking this mage water is actually cheaper than buying it off the vendor, even with max reputation discounts. If you choose to go about it with other recipes, make sure it actually counts for the achievement, a lot of them don’t.

Alternative Feast

The other way to obtain a feast is to have an Engineer make [Goblin Barbecue]. However it requires 475 to lay one and the materials may be a lot more expensive. If you haven’t see the model for this yet… it simply looks amazing! Can’t wait to see what the [Seafood Magnifiquue Feast] looks like. That one will take 10,000 fish catches from Cataclysm pools.
