How to Make Gold During WoW Children’s Week

This guest post has been brought to you by Tyberiuss. See how you can profit off of in-game events like this one in the future.
Here’s my little story about my children’s week success.
I started planning for Children’s Week months in advance.
I have a 3 bankers, and one of them had their own guild bank. I moved everything out of the guild bank and started collecting mats to make the sweets.
I set a threshold on Small Eggs and Northern Eggs and began buying them up each day.
After vendor buying up or making all 7 of the required achievement treats, I had 4 tabs of my guild bank stacked out (see pic 3) in singles for ease of grabbing, and a 5th tab with extra Chocolate Cakes (see pic 4).
So, hours before children’s week starts, I have my barking text all ready to go for selling the packaged sweets for 200G, plus I’m throwing in a fortune card too (see pic 2). I barked that in /say, in Trade, and in /Yell…….all with staggered times.
But prior to starting my barks, I had the AH all loaded up with each treat listed at rates higher than if they just bought the package deal from me. I even had every ingredient listed (flask of port, eggs, milk….everything but mageroyal [too many of those to control]).
Additionally, I had mailed some stacks of treats to myself from another toon, just in case I couldnt get back the bank quickly and needed to restock on the run from one of many mailboxes.
So I start my pre-childrens week barking around 11pm (start is 3AM), and the results were crazy good.
1. People start uobbing me as I stood in front of the AH, and I begin making sales.
2. People ask me to send COD, which I happily do…..some even ask for multiple sets.
3. I see some of the toons standing around begin to immediately start eating their treats, and when I explain that they started too early (and w/o their children out), I make secondary sales to them.
4. Those who decide my package deal is too high, run to the AH to buy the individual sweets, but they dont realize that those are even more expensive. Every time I bark, I also see AH sales popping up in my chat log. I even get praise from one guy who sees how I set everything up (see pic 1).
All the pre-event sales go great. And when 3AM hits, I move over to the Matron and continue the barking, but now I also whisper the bark to every toon that I see come up and target the Matron.
Finally, I have to go to bed, so I reload the AH logout. I wake up the next morning, collect my AH sales, and reload the AH. I have to adjust those prices because some people are getting in on the act, but they are still crazy high.
When I get to work, I check in on the remote AH and continue to keep all treats and sub-mats listed at best prices.
When I get home, I can see more people are listing treats in the AH, but since I had the eggs all locked up, I’m still doing crazy good on the treats that needed those eggs as ingredients.
I have to adjust my package prices down over the next few days, but I continue to sell from barks and AH.
Overall, this was very fun to plan for, and a great diversion from my normal AH activities. I made many thousands from the event and learned a few things a long the way that I will try next year.
Note: My treats seller is named Garagesale (guild – Mercy Flush).
