New WoW Patch 4.2 Items Mean More Gold Making Opportunities
Aloha all, Stokpile here. I wanted to talk to you today about predictability and the auction house. As we all know, patch 4.2 added new BoE epic recipes which are becoming more and common each day that passes. In addition to that there are also the reputation epic items that have been attached to the Firelands raid. And with all of that that comes many new possibilities to make a fast million gold.
Well maybe not a million, but a lot none the less. When something new is added the price of everything shifts, even if it’s only slightly associated with the new items. This presents us with three different routes to take to make gold and they’re all just as viable as the other. Those potential gold making methods are selling the new items themselves, selling items such as gems or enchants to enhance them, or just selling the materials to craft and/or enhance them.
New WoW Patches, New Items
Are there new capes? Start crafting a few stacks of cloak enchants on a scroll and watch the money come in. New weapons? Same thing. Yes there is an entire raid out there with loads of epics in it but there is one key thing to look for any time something new is added in: availability. Everyone can do daily’s and everyone can farm trash so that means that eventually, everyone will have all of this new gear.
Sell the Gear
The first option is to sell the new gear itself. This one is pretty straightforward as you imagine, but there is still slightly more to it than craft and list. The most important part of selling either the crafted gear or BoE drops is when they’re not being actively farmed. This means prime time is a no go for listing these on the auction house. This is because the people that are interested in getting easy top end epics are either actively farming them or are about to be.
After all, why would you buy a raid drop when you’re going into that raid in 15 minutes? You buy them after you raid and don’t get the drop you’re after. Listing before the raid typically won’t do anything more than lower the current price of them. And that’s when you want to sell them. You have to know your server and know your customers.
Sell the Gems and Enchants
If you don’t want to sell the crafted gear or flip the BoE drops, you can sell the gems and enchants for them. Try to keep a full stock of enchanted scrolls and gems for every slot that you can from top end maelstrom enchants to the cheap second and third best enchants. And just as with selling the gear itself, you’ll see your best sales after the raids typically get finished.
Unfortunately ore prices are still fairly terrible on your average server so selling the metal or raw gems that come from it may not be too profitable in the raw materials markets. However, looking at the above point on item enhancements shows that there are still raw material markets that you could be tapping into. For this you can go two different ways, you can either sell off portions of your current material stockpile (you do stockpile don’t you?) or you can simply flip what is on the auction house already.
Vary Stack Sizes
Once again there is more to consider here than just putting something on the auction house and crossing your fingers. You can get an epic cloak from reputation and one of the main cloak enchants is greater intellect which takes four greater celestial essences. It’s a very good chance that if you sell the essences in stacks of four instead of singles you’ll see more sales and possibly better profits as well. The only time where this doesn’t apply is when there is some twenty plus pages of singles already up. People buy specific stack sizes for convenience and having to scroll through that many pages to find the exact amount is anything but.
At the end of the day, there is always more than one way to make gold. All you have to do is look a little bit closer. Or continue reading fine sites such as this one and we can tell you what they might be. You know, whichever.
Thanks for stopping by!
