The Warcraft Econ Hall of Fame interviews the few elite players that have hit the World of Warcraft gold cap of 999,999 gold 99 silver 99 copper as well as ones who have obtain 500k and 250k. We have with us, Tataluibob of Vashj-EU, who will be sharing their story with us today.

Hello, my name is CRISTIAN; I am from Romania and play World of Warcraft since December 2006.
The name of character, this is hard to say, if I think of who produced gold, the name is VANZATOAREA, but she is level 2 and is not a good thing that a level 2 player to earn so much gold. Because of this, given the fact that the main player is TATALUIBOB (level 85 warlock), I credit him with this title. Both characters are on VASHJ realm on EU server. VANZATOAREA is in Romanian language synonym with Shop assistant in English, and TATALUIBOB means Bob father in English.
Do you raid or PvP most? Both? How do you enjoy the game?
I do only PVE (raiding and dungeon) even i play on PVP server. I also like getting achievements point and collect pet’s.
Why did you choose to collect this amount of gold?
Who do not like to be RICH? Always money meant power, even if money does not bring happiness.
How did you go about getting to this gold amount? Any creative or original ideas?
In my opinion, it’s all about perseverance and knowledge. When I say perseverance, I think to be methodical and rhythmic. Knowledge is to know which the true value of each item is. Buy when prices are low and sell when prices are up.
But the most important thing is that this game all professions are related, so because of this I have all the professions on my account.
However if you should make a ranking of efficiency of each profession, it would be this (In my opinion):
- Jewelcrafting
- Enchanting
- Tailoring
- Alchemy
- Leatherworking
- Blacksmithing
If you noticed, i have not named any profession that has been labeled as “farming profession”. I do not have time for farming and more than that I do not like, is boring.
What is your master list?
Most of my gold was earned by selling gems, actually Meta gems – Agile Shadowspirit Diamond , Austere Shadowspirit Diamond or Burning Shadowspirit Diamond. I purchased materials and prospected millions of Elementium Ore & Obsidium Ore.
What items are in your Snatch list?
As I said before the head of my materials is Elementium Ore followed by Obsidium Ore.
How did you learn to do it? Anyone or resource you would like to thank?
The most important thing was that I am a professional economist (in real life), Knowing the market rules was easy for me. I would like to thank mainly to two people: my son Andrew ( Deathboss Vashj/EU) and my friend Robert (Unrealro Jaedenar/EU) , that helped me to achieve this goal, morally of course.
What addons, if any, do you use to help you make gold and why are they needed?
I only use Auctionator, is good for easy auction and price knowledge and Postal as a mailbox enhancement addon.
Are you still going for more gold? If so, do you have a new goal? Are you close?
I will do, I’m used too much with Auction House. When I enter the game mechanic I go to Auction House and check prices.
Do many people know you have this amount of gold?
Yes, there are a few who had the opportunity to see gold cap.
In fact I took the message from World of Warcraft “At gold limit” and I joked with some players. What did I do? I gave my gold trade with all provided to show me 1 copper on their player. Then I clicked TRADE, they did the same and had a second of joy thinking that they got all gold. That was funny and sad at the same time.
Did you spend your gold on fun things? What have you bought? What things would you like to buy?
I will keep the gold, on main player (TATALUIBOB) i have all i need (Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth, Mekgineer’s Chopper, Sandstone Drake, etc ). One possible use of gold may also be setting up a Guild (social) where each rank of reputation got (with guild) to be repaid in gold. Example 1 gold for each reputation point gained starting whit friendly.
If you were the professor of a gold making 101 college class, what would be some things you would talk about?
I will start with “Use your head” and “Market controls” ! Auction house is not a joke.
How about an advanced gold making class?
Have more than one character, which means more professions and most important Be aggressive use every opportunity (whit your price on Auction house), recalling in this sense what sale were made since they were introduced Glyphs for the first time.
Do you have good farming strategies or spots?
Like i said i do not farming.
What was the best deal you ever came across?
One of the best deal I have is when I buy 1.000 stack of Elementium Ore at 20 gold/stack.
Do you remember any of your worst deals?
YES, i remember was Darkmoon cards, i lose allot of gold and actually give all the deck to my friend’s.
What are your future plans with World of Warcraft?
Finally i will start raiding and do achievements again, now that patch 4.2 is online.
What are you predictions for the future World of Warcraft economy?
Patch 4.2 was not an explosion for World of Warcraft economy, but when they will bring in the new gems (epic one) WILL BE .
Please tell us a little bit about how you handle your real life finances. What are the differences and similarities with how you do things in World of Warcraft?
Like i said before i am an economist so i am used with money. But World of Warcraft is only a game !!!
