Share This week I would like to talk about one of the more important things when trying to hit gold cap, diversity. While I am sure there are some items out there that you can craft and make decent sums of money, what happens when some yahoo comes along and drives the price into oblivion. [...]
If I had to place a bet on the most profitable profession in Cataclysm, it would have to be Jewelcrafting. With the potential of mass glyph sales going away, Inscription, JC’s main rival in gold making, will no longer be as profitable as it was in Wotlk. Although we believe there will be a window of opportunity for scribes to make a ton of money during the release of new glyphs as well as the newly introduced medium glyphs. Only time will tell what type of system Blizzard has planned for introducing new glyphs.
Jewelcrafting has proven to be a highly lucrative profession and this will probably be no different in Cataclysm. In fact, with the new change to colors/stats to diversify the highly sought after cuts, there will be less of a discrepancy in price between all the colors. In other words, green gems will be priced comparable to red gems. We have seen this concept before when Blizzard wanted eternals to have similar costs, however we all know that is not the case with Fire and Life being significantly more expensive.
So after digging around the data-mined information about Jewelcrafting, this is what we have come up with. The profession cap is now 525 and you need at least 500 to use the JC only gems. It also looks like current profession bonuses will carry over in to Cataclysm as well. See blue posts below if you need to be caught up with what’s in store for JC.

Share It’s that time again… the time to prospect ore a few weeks after the introduction of a new patch. We went to the auction house today and picked up 32 stacks of [Titanium Ore] for around 9500g. This is a prospecting test to see if it is profitable like our Prospecting Saronite Ore and our [...]
Share Taking a look back at pre-3.1 Prospecting/DE, which has become a very popular topic, we can see that it was highly profitable when gems/enchanting materials worth a lot. Now in 3.1, we can see that [Saronite Ore] has retained it’s average price of 17-20g per stack, while [Eternal Earth] has skyrocketed to around 10g each. We had actually [...]
Share Wes ford has mentioned two weeks ago that his gem market had finally hit a healthy level for him. For me, it has just reached the point where it becomes just almost worth my time to re-dabble a bit into the gem industry. Despite having no new recipes for Jewelcrafting from Ulduar, and having [...]

Share This article is an extension of our previous articles on Powerleveling Jewelcrafting, Cheap Enchanting as a Byproduct, and Recouping all Expenses and Disenchanting Stoneguard Bands. To sum up what those two are about; they are the process of taking raw materials, crafting, then disenchanting for profit. For this method to work at its’ optimum level, you [...]
Share This is a follow-up post requested by our readers. The original article on making gold by Disenchanting Stoneguard Bands was a neat trick you could do for easy enchanting mats or profit. After patch 3.08 and the nerfs to the number of materials used in enchants led to prices of dust/essences declining in price on some servers. This [...]
Share Powerleveling Jewelcrafting So I finally decided to make the switch to Jewelcrafting and dropped skinning for it. JC being a better min/max profession and not having to physically farm for materials was my motivation for doing it. Skinning was hardly used outside of instances and even then the money wasn’t that good. I just ended up [...]
