Patch 3.2 Preparation: ilevel 245 Crafted Epics

Posted by Warcraftecon | June 29, 2009 .

Crusader Orb

Think of the new crafted items like the [Runed Orb] and their recipes of 3.2, except they are Chest/Bracers instead of Belt/Boots. The new orbs are called [Crusader Orb] and will most likely drop in the new 3.2 Crusader’s Coliseum 10/25 man raid and purchasable with [Emblem of Triumph]. These 18 new items are ilevel 245 epics and in contrast, Ulduar25 hard-modes drop ilevel 239 and [Runed Orb] recipes craft ilevel 226 items. The chest pieces require 8 orbs while the bracers use 4. There seems to be doubles of each item in the Wowhead.com database, this may be due to the faction specific armor models that Blizzard announced they would use in the next raid. What was interesting was that 2 of the BS recipes used a few of the rare quality crafted weapons as the materials, [Deadly Saronite Dirk] and [Corroded Saronite Woundbringer]. The latter being a BS BOP item, which is a bit strange. Looking at the materials, they are very similar to the ones that the [Runed Orb] recipes use. The materials include:

With easier access to the Ulduar crafted items as well as these new ones, you may see demand for the crafting materials go up in price.

Damn you blizzard, I was have been selling green cuts for 50g a pop because people have been hoarding them for the patch. Stupid from my perspective because 9*50=450g>1*300g uncut red epic gem.

Thanks for the updates. I’m however very saddened that after spending so much gold on runed orbs, the crafted gear that I got are nearly redundant.

Not really surprising they were putting a CD on that and balanced out the materials a bit. A bit weird that Eye of Zul doesn’t use Forest Emeralds though. I’ll check it out on the PTR and make an updated post.

At least by adding a cooldown the market wont get flooded by every transmuter with half a brain. Should help keep the prices higher for longer (fingers crossed)

Sorry I didn’t post the link the first time. Didn’t want to look like i was leeching/just advertising my blog.

Okey, I have one question here.
Let’s say I would like to ” prepare ” myself for the upcoming patch ( 3.2 ), by farming mats or anything. What would that be?

Like ive seen a movie where a guy farmed herbs for a month and then sold it on the AH when the new proffesion, Inscription came out. He earned around 47k gold.

Is there anything similiar to that I can do? Please help me out, im in need of gold :D

Heres something i just gotta ask… why the hell do you have to be a weaponsmith to craft the new wrist gear for plate users ?

    1) How much are people paying for Titanium Ore, and how much do we expect epic gems to sell for? Can you compare the prices of rare and epic gems from Burning Crusade?

    2) Has the market for glyphs fallen away since the advent of dual specs?

    3) What is the most profitable green gem cut?

For Wonzy: All three of your questions are server specific so you’ll have to do your own research. Example: Since I engage in arbitrage on my pvp server, Titanium Ore goes for 90-100g on Horde, 150-200g on Alliance. I’m betting this disparity exists server to server and the reasons are many – raid progression, wealth, population, focus. Glyphs I pull about 3k a day, on a medium pop server with heavy, heavy competition. As with any color cut except reds, this depends on the day of the week.

Best practice: Spend a week watching the AH prices, writing them down daily (auctioneer data is terrible for this kind of data). Apply that information the next week. Make changes where necessary.

@ Gaaz – Well anyone who farms for a month straight will make a good amount of gold. Really farming anything valueable like the materials listed in the post will provide you with gold. Now our experience with stockpiling for patch 3.1 were not as good as expected, yet there is still some profit to be had in high demand materials. You can start with what the Runed/Crusader orb recipes require. However don’t expect prices to change too much or go up significantly, even in 3.2, prices of these items may stay the same price they are now. If you really want to farm for a month in preparation, you may consider Titanium Ore as one of the items. Whether you sell them now or post patch, the will still sell at all time high.

As far as trying to profit 40k+ gold on a new patch like you spoke of, this usually doesn’t happen with the average player, especially those that don’t already bring in high amounts like that. Inscription was a huge thing back then and there is probably nothing that comes close to it in 3.2. Sure demand for titanium will probably stay high, but you can sell that now for a nice profit as well. A good rule of thumb is to sell items and materials when they are profitable and have a decent profit margin rather than waiting for that magical day to sell that usually never comes.

If the player you spoke of made 47k with about one month worth of farming, then that only comes out to about 1500g per day. A skilled auction house player usually averages that amount each day for less time invested. The “statistics” tab tracks this, which is labeled “Aeverage gold earned per day”.

There are a lot of resources on this site on how to make gold without farming, but with tradeskills. A good place to start would be our “Income vs. Spending” article ( http://www.warcraftecon.net/?p=1278 ). Maybe you are making a good amount of gold, but you spend it faster than you make it. If you participate in PVE a lot, then all those emblems can be turned into pure gold or saved for 3.2 where epic gems become availiable on the emblem vendors.
