Patch 3.2 Preparation: Random Goodies Discovered

Posted by Warcraftecon | July 14, 2009 .

Here are some interesting things that we found on the PTR lately. Most this info should benefit some players on patch day as well.

Jormungar Leg Armor

Jormungar Leg Armor

Material cost are increased for [Jormungar Leg Armor]

So assuming the leather is 3g each and the scales being about 1g each, it will cost ~21g to make. Where as now, it only costs about 16g to craft. So in preparation for 3.2, start making them before they increase the costs of the materials. Although some Leatherworkers don’t focus on these lower quality kits and instead make the epic versions. Since the materials for both don’t overlap, you can use these to diversify your kit production. It is interesting however, that the materials for [Nerubian Leg Armor] was left unchanged.

Alchemy

Potion stack to 20

Potions now stack to 20. Not a huge change, but we may see a lower demand for Injector Kits since you can now just buy a full 20 stack potions. This change saves a good amount of bag space as well depending on how many potions you carry to raids. I personally carry at least 20 haste and 40 health potions, which takes up 6 slots if I use injectors. Next patch, this will only take up 3 spaces.

Flask of the North

A new re-usable flask will be added in 3.2, the [Flask of the North].

Please do not misunderstand this addition. It is not geared towards raiders who normally use the regular flasksas and as you can see, the stats on this are a bit less. This flask is more to compensate the lack of Alchemy bonuses in an Arena. Although I do foresee Alchemists using this new flask all the time just to save money, maybe even on farm content in raids. This flask is created by a simple”

Nightmare Tear

Nightmare Tear

A new prismatic, all stat gem has been added. This is a +10 to all stats gem that replaces the old, +6 stats [Siren's Tear]. This is a great way to liquidate your extra [Dragon's Eye] and [Infinite Dust] in 3.2, however we are still unsure how much demand for this item there will be. For certain classes that need to fulfill a blue gem requirement, may use this for example instead of a [Shifting Dreadstone]. The [Nightmare Tear] is usable by everyone, but crafted by Jewelcrafters using:

Tome of Cold Weather Flight

Tome of Cold Weather Flight

This is a one time use, bind on account item that teaches you [Cold Weather Flying] at level 68. On live servers now, you may train this ability at level 77. With all the new mount changes in 3.2, this allows players to fly around in Northrend starting at level 68 instead of 77. You must be level 80 to purchase this item. It will cost 1000g and can be sent to an alt so they can learn it before venturing into Northrend.

Jeeves

Jeeves

Engineering had a lot of interesting changes to make the profession for desirable. [Jeeves] is one of the more interesting additions. There is an expensive material list just to craft this re-usable repair bot, so start saving now. You will also need some TBC materials as well, so there will be some gold making opportunities here to sell off excess materials or even a Jeeves construction kit with all the required materials to other players.

Battleground Repeatable Quest

Battleground Repeatable Quest

With the addition of the new battleground, Isle of Conquest, there will be a new mark introduced. The repeatable quest for all marks will now require these new marks as well and will grant additional honor as well. We are still unsure on the specific amount, but on live, the quest grants 1241 honor.

Raptor Pets

Obsidian Hatchling

There will be a large amount of raptor pets being added to 3.2, most of them are aquired by killing rare/elite raptors throughout the game. On patch day, you can pick up a [Obsidian Hatchling] in Dalaran at the pet shop for around 40g.

What changes are our reader’s most exited about in patch 3.2?

I think the tome of flying requires an 80 to buy it…? IE for alts, not mains first time through.

I noticed over on Elitist Jerks that there’s an epic resilience cut. Has Kharma’s Grace received a stat boost?

Are the PvP epic cuts still purchasable from the Wintergrasp vendor or has everything been shifted over to Dalaran? (Questions, questions ; ) )

I read on mmo that you had to be lvl 80 to buy the BoA flying tome.

I could see the Nightmare tear potentially becoming the tanking cut of choice, either placed in an eternal belt buckle or (if they’re a blacksmith) placed in one of the other prismatic slots.

@ Atelius – Yes theres is a new epic +20 resilience cut, the pattern is purchasable by JC’s in Dalaran.

Kharma’s Grace has recieved no boost in stats.

The PvP cuts are still on the WG vendor and not in Dalaran.

Yes you do need to be level 80 to purchase it. The official blue post is: “Tome of Cold Weather Flying: New heirloom item. Players who have reached level 80 can now purchase this book for 1,000 gold from Hira Snowdawn, the Cold Weather Flying Trainer in Dalaran. Similar to other heirloom items, this item can be mailed to other characters of the same realm, account and faction. The book is consumed when read training the character in Cold Weather Flying. Requires level 68.”

Hrmmm maybe I should burn some honor then do “for great honor” now before it requires the new marks.

@ Twan – You could also stockpile 75k honor plus 100 marks of each BG. Since the quest will grant more honor most likely in 3.2, it might be worth it just to wait it out. Or you could burn your marks now if you have trouble hitting the honor cap in general.
