Hall of Fame: Anaalius of Chamber of Aspect-EU

Posted by Warcraftecon | March 15, 2010 .

The Warcraft Econ Hall of Fame is a column featuring the few elite players that have hit the World of Warcraft gold cap of 214,748 gold 36 silver 46 copper. We have with us, Anaalius of Chamber of Aspect-EU, who will be sharing their stories with us today.

Please tell us a little about yourself and your gaming experience.

Hey. My name is Liam and my main is Anaalius, Destruction warlock of the Eu – Chamber of Aspect’s realm Who i have played since i bought the game December of 2008. All the way threw Burning Crusade i was always struggling to even pay my repair bill’s. I didn’t see much use for gold really until i started to buy some crafted gear and wanted to get my epic flying mount, I grinded for these pretty exclusively in the lake just outside of shattrath killing the wyrm’s for mote’s of water. Basically all threw out burning crusade i didn’t have over 10k gold and i was someone that farmed for my gold so i could afford gem’s from my new gear and repairs. When patch 3.0 came out I started to make gold Buying and enchanting Vellum’s.

Because i didn’t mind farming i decided tailoring as i was no longer using it and pick up mining. This payed of when Wotlk hit i leveled to 80 with in the first week and farmed saronite / titanium ore constantly making over 2000g a day which at the time i thought was amazing. i got up to around 30000g and that was the highest amount of the game. But after leveling more characters and buying them epic flying mounts i ended up with 10k. When I transferred from my old realm Eu – Hellfire with my guild my current realm is when my gold making got a bit more serious.

Do you raid or PvP most? Both? How do you enjoy the game?

I love the game and most aspect’s of it. I have always been a huge fan of PvE but recently [since3.2] i haven’t raided hardcore. I play arena with a friend of mine which i find very fun and frustration at time. And i also love to level characters . i have currently 6 lvl 80′s 3 over 60 and 2 around lvl 30 [1 lvl 80[dk] will stay on my old realm to chat with people.

Why did you choose to collect this amount of gold?

When i transferred to my new realm i also started to collect achievements so i knew i needed a lot of gold to buy all the pet’s and mounts i wanted

How did you go about getting to the 214k? Did you use professions? Auction House arbitrage? Any creative ideas?

From 0g to 10,000g i used enchanting and selling scroll’s. I then used a combination of Inscription and jewelcrafting to get up to 100000g [mainly the saronite shuffle] and basically sold epic gem’s and flipped epic item’s to get to the cap, i also still sold enchanting scroll’s all the way but they were not a big part of my profit.

How did you learn to do it?

I learnt by just jumping in at the deep end and blogging about my journey, this helped me keep track of what i was doing right and wrong. But because i was blogging about it i discovered other blog’s, It was interesting to see how other people were making gold, which gave me idea’s on how to make gold more efficiently.

What addons, if any, do you use to help you make gold?

I use postal to collect mail Auctioneer to keep track of the market and Quick Auction’s 2 to post [should probably upgrade to qa3]

Are you still going for more gold, like 1 million?  If so, do you have a new goal? Are you close?

Well I’m still planning on playing the Ah and selling gem’s. Making gold has become a big part of the game for me. It’s great knowing that you can Buy anything out want at all,
Im still waiting for a spectral tiger to come on the auction house though.

Do many people know you have this amount of gold?

I don’t know many people on my realm who do but I’m sure a few of my competition are. As well as some of the great people who i have come to know through blogging.

Did you spend your gold on fun things? What have you bought? What things would you like to buy?

I do, i collect pet’s and mount’s so am always looking to buy one’s which i don’t have. It felt pretty good buying the expensive Mechano hog and the Travelers mammoth.

Do you have any special tips that you would like to share?

Keep every trade good which you get. I have 3 guild banks full of random thing’s and the price’s on trade goods for leveling professions Fluctuate a lot when not farmed. You could buy some Essence of undead of 50silver one day and resell it for 50g the next. Keep a massive stock of thing’s which you don’t need at the moment but could have a use for in the future. ALSO ALWAYS READ PATCHNOTE’S

Do you have any fun stories from when you were grinding?

Unfortunately not, When i grind i like to either turn off my brain and run auto pilot, or listen/watch to Podcasts/Movies.

What was the best deal you ever came across?

Probably picking up Loads of titanium ore for 90g a stack before the epic gem patch and getting around 100 epic gems from prospecting them. Also buying a battered hilt for 7000g which i resold for 15000g .

Do you remember any of your worst deals?

Probably a different attempt to sell a battered hilt, 9500g into 10000g. Tho it was still profit so not too bad.

What are your future plans with WoW?

I am going to Level and gear my alt’s all too 80 before cataclysm so they are easy enough to level. I am going to continue my blog and my gold journey. And i am going to prepare to make loads of gold in cataclysm.

Thank you for taking the time to do this interview for Warcraft Econ. Do you have any last words?

It’s been great doing this interview, i would like to also give i quick thank you to everyone in the blogging community for helping me get gold capped.

Also just a quick plug of my blog: http://anaaliusgoldhunt.blogspot.com

This guy should finally learn pluralizing nouns in English does not involve apostrophe. Seriously.

    It’s nouns.
    Not “noun’s”.

My eyes bleed when I’m trying to read his blog, even though it’s full of good ideas.

    Yes, ideas.
    Not “idea’s” etc.
