Skinning: Nerubar Outside Warsong Hold

Posted by Warcraftecon | November 14, 2008 .

Skinning from 375 to 450 is one of the easiest trade skills to level in the expansion. I had hit max skinning last night and I’m still level 71. There were dead animals everywhere from the massive amounts of people doing the quests for them. Just start skinning away when you see them on the ground, this takes killing the mob out of the normal skinning equation. Many of the starting zones, for Alliance and Horde, have animals you can skin right away. For Horde, take a look at the Borean Tundra starting zone. One of the very first quests you get requires you to kill 15 Nerubars right outside Warsong Hold. During peak hours, the whole area is littered with animals you can skin. With a fast re-spawn rate and plenty of people to do the work, getting a whole bag full of leather fairly easy. If you didn’t know already, right clicking [Borean Leather Scraps] converts it into [Borean Leather]. There is also a chance to skin the [Nerubian Chitin] and [Arctic Fur], rare leather that is use to craft various things. The later, is also used as currency to buy the higher level Leatherworking recipes up in Dalaran and needed to make the Motorcycle mount. If you skin for profit, then these will sell very well on the auction house. Since one of my professions is Leatherworking, I am also checking the AH periodically for these. [Arctic Fur] is over 100-400g on my server already, this item is like the [Fel Lotus] of skinning. In addition to all these great leather drops, they also drop various greens, blues, cloth, lock-boxes, etc. There are different types of Nerubar with their own loot tables. This makes skinning these mobs that much more profitable.

So if you want easy leather, I suggest check this area out. Just be careful since the respawn rates are so fast, it is easy to get overwhelmed by the mobs. I personally could pull about 10 at a time and AOE them down in almost full Season 4 gear. So most of you shouldn’t have much of a problem with these level 68-71 mobs.

Yes, this is a good tip, my GF found the same, skinned a lot, still 70 (http://greedygoblin.blogspot.com/2008/11/home-sweet-home.html)

The undead pigs outside Warsong hold are just as good and there is no skinning competition.
