Almost all crafted epic’s only use one, compared to tons in TBC. It seems like all the crafted BOE gear have lower amounts of regular eternals used as well. This means that crafted epics are going to be easily obtainable and everywhere. The very first one sold on my server for 1000g, it has been 2 days since then and prices are down to about 500g. We are certain that prices will continue to drop seeing that the majority of crafted epics only need one. As a Leatherworker, I have 6 epic items I can make for myself to wear, 3 pieces of PVE epics and 3 pieces of frost resist gear. For those 6 items, I only need a total of 6 orbs to craft. Obtaining 6 orbs shouldn’t take too long since I will be running Heroics for rep anyways and besides, 3 of those orbs are for frost resist gear. However, when these items come down to a lower price, it would be wise to snatch them up and start crafting BOE epics for resale on the AH. On the other hand, if you have obtained one of these, profit is at an all time high for these items, in fact most item prices are as high as hey are going to be in Wotlk. This is as good as the price is going to get due to the limited amount of players who can obtain them at the moment. So if you can hold off on leveling your professions and crafting epic items, you can sell these for pure profit. Even if you plan on using these, think of it this way, you can sell for 500-1000g, then later go buy them when they are much cheaper. You have invested nothing and gain a fair amount of gold. Go ahead and check your server AH for these and see what the going prices are, if there are none, you maybe able to put on up for 1000g and have it sell by the next day. I predict will only last for less than a week, before more orbs find their way onto the AH thus driving prices down.

I have been at it this for a week now. I managed to sell 1 for 600g but prices have started to drop to around 400g now
I would be interested to know if anyone has made any gold from inscription because I am spending all my profits (from anything apart from glyphs) on buying herbs to get those darkmoon cards!
Those darkmoon cards are sweet, I see those selling for way over 1000g easy. If you are a scribe, always use your both your inscription research cooldowns. Server first glyphs will sell for a lot. Right now DK glyphs, especially minor ones are selling very well. This is due to everyone trying to level and ignoring the AH. There are some great deals if you check the AH often, as in high level materials for just a few gold each.
Again – couldn’t agree more. It’s a pity this is such an awesome time to play the auction house – you have to make some major decisions between leveling a toon and sitting on the AH waiting for the deals to drop.
Since I don’t have a toon at 80 just yet, I’m opting to level, but I still pop over to my bank toon at least twice a day to see what’s happening.
Pricing is still all across the board – what sold last week for 5-6 g each on my server is now selling for 50s-75s. Part of the problem is people flooding the market when they see something that sells well – it drives me crazy. I wish some sellers would learn the basics of supply and demand….sigh….what can ya do.
Love your blog, btw, you’ve been added to my Google reader.
Those darkmoon cards are really expensive to make if you don’t have herbalism (6 snowfall ink.. sob).
Some guy was trying to corner the market by buying all the frozen orb on my server and then re-listing them for 1.2k! I have to love these people as I just made 2k gold from him and I still have more orbs to sell (selling it to him at 800g)
@taco – What’s snowfall ink going for lately and how are the mats?
I was going to address that topic in a future post, profiting off people that think they can control the market like that. Those are the people you can undercut on the AH right after they buy your product, granted if you have a decent supply.
On my server people are not selling snowfall ink. This is because it’s needed for the northend inscription research and the darkmoon cards. If there was a market it would be at least 40g/pot (1 stack of adder’s tongue (40-60g) will yield 2-3 icy pigment, 2 pigment =1 ink).
One of the best pre-raid trinket is the darkmoon card of greatness (nobles deck – beats the blessings deck which sold for 2-3k throughout BC) which will be a good seller if you can get your hands on it. From what I can see, only the nobles deck and chaos deck would be profitable.
Hmm, I need to get my hands on a Greatness deck. It is the 3rd best trinket in the game for my class, right behind OS/EO 25 man trinkets.
@Sophie – Your absolutely right, there is a huge supply with not enought demand. This just means great deals for people like us
Thank you for the positive feedback.
