Hello warcraftecon,
What do you think about the relative lack of bump in earning speed in
Wrath? I’m not quite L80 yet, but I don’t feel like I’m earning gold
for doing normal things like questing any faster than I did in TBC.
Dailies give 5g when leveling, 10g when not… same as dailies in TBC.
Does this create a disparity between people who have been saving and
people who are more “spend it as they find it”?
Thanks! Enjoying the blog.

I don’t remember clearly how fast gold making was from 60-70, but just from doing the higher level quests, I made a few thousand gold. Well as far as the game design, 70-80 brings in a decent amount of gold. This is to cover repairs, new spells, and other mandatory expenses. You make an estimated 5000g while leveling, but some of it is spent on the basics. Dailies give about about 13g gold at 80, but the are mainly for grinding reputation with certain factions, but some people swear by them to make them gold. While questing, regular quests only give about 5g each, however once you get to the group quests/chains you will be making 20g+ per quest. Professions and gathering skills are bringing in a huge amount of money right now, prices on the auction house are pretty crazy at the moment. If you spending more than your bringing in for questing/leveling I would recommend not spending it on other things other than the basics. Is there something that your spending your gold on rather than the basic food/skills/repairs? You may be able to bring in more gold from leveling buy picking up everything you see, as in vendor trash. Also save BOE green items and various other items that will sell on the auction house, there is a lot of buyers and sellers on the AH since Wotlk launched.
I believe there is a huge gap between people that have been saving pre-Wotlk and those that came into it with very little gold. Saving isn’t the best word to use here since work was done to earn all that gold, such as playing the AH, dailies, using their professions, etc. Also during the end of BC there were not too many things to spend your gold on, so people ended up having a huge stockpile of it. There were also pleny of opportunities to make gold as well. I personally went from 12,000g to 47,000g in the last few months of BC, with no raiding or pvp going on, I just started playing the AH and used my professions to make items for resale. I also did not farm and most of that was made sitting in a capitol city. This was about the time I started this blog to share my ideas and tactics to obtain such large amounts of gold.
