Website Philosophy and Goals
Warcraft Econ is aiming to provide daily updates and eventually multiple updates per day, including weekends. This can only be accomplished, not by one person, but many writers/bloggers and contributors. See the next section if you are interested. The focus of this site will still be on making gold, however we want to expand a bit on the topics we bring to our readers. For the most part, it will try to tie it back into the WoW economy, gold, professions, and what a gold blog is all about. However look for new exciting topics that may include being your guild’s banker/GM, generating income as a end-game raiding guild, earning gold as a low level or new player to the game, game guides, interviews with guild bankers, quick bite sized gold tips, spending your massive stockpiles of gold, and other fun topics. These new topics will be in addition to the regular gold cap Hall of Fame interviews, patch notes, PTR information, and relevant WoW economy news. Eventually there maybe a section for Diablo III econ/item articles as well as for any of Blizzard’s future games. The content created here will remain completely FREE, just like we told our very first readers back in 2008, during the launch of warcraftecon.net. Last but not least, we want to stress quality content here. Whether it is fully researched articles from someone with tons of experience in that topic or how a writer engages their audience with their creativity, interesting content, and persona. The content should be high quality but sometimes it should make you think or even make you laugh, because let’s face it, the elementium shuffle is pretty boring stuff to talk about.
Hiring Content Creators
Ever thought about starting your own WoW blog, but was overwhelmed with the technical details?
We invite you to start a blog/column here at Warcraft Econ!
Who: Any current WoW blogger is welcome to contact us. We are looking for writers who simply like to write, let us know their game experiences, and musing. If you are a reader, we ask that you submit some sample writing to us so we can judge the content, quality, grammar, spelling, style, and tone of the article. More than one person will be reading it, not just me. This will be an actually position on our writing staff, not just as a guest poster; you are also welcome to keep submitting them. Although the site will have its’ own posting schedule to follow, you are welcome to write as often or as little as you want within reason. If you have an ideas on how you think you can contribute, we might “create” a position here for you. Take Zero Hour for example, he was the founder of our Hall of Fame. He had suggested the idea being one of the first players to hit the original gold cap (214k) and came up with 90% of the questions. You could create your own column like this or article/video series.
What: Aside from the previous mentioned articles/content, you are encouraged to write what interests you, even something creative. The articles we had the most fun writing about back in WoW: Burning Crusade had to do with min/maxing a bank alts storage space and what cool items to outfit him/her with. No one had really ever touched on the topic of bank alts back then, it felt great to write about a topic like that. We want you to see this as a fun way to engage in not just the gold blog community but the WoW community as a whole. It shouldn’t feel like a job. We want you to feel how we felt back then. Gold making topics are going to overlap, especially with the 50+ gold blogs out there, so there will be no copy/paste or stealing content. However if you want to talk/commentate about a similar topic, go for it. This is WoW, there are only so many ways a profession will let you make gold. Aside from written content, we are also looking for video content creators. You may have an existing YouTube channel, but are looking for a new audience that have no idea you exist. This goes for anyone with a blog as well. It can be a great way to speak in front of a new audience or maybe you are just frustrated at maintaining your own site. Content creators will be giving their own login here at and a post editor. Write your posts, submit the draft for review, and see it published when we have edited/approved it.
Why: One of our goals is to grow this site along side its’ contributors, writers, bloggers, content creators. It will be your site as well. We plan on providing daily content and eventually updates throughout the day. The site will be a central hub for all things related to the WoW economy. We are hoping to attract some of the big names in the gold making community and even players you have never heard of but are over the 1 million gold mark. However you don’t need to be gold capped to write for us. Although we do want writers to be self motivated and be able to manage themselves.

Frequently Asked Questions
What would be the required or recommended length of posts be?
A minimum of 350-500 words. It can also be longer if the topic requires it. Shorter articles are good for a lot of readers since they are easy to digest and so are pictures, bullet, points, and lists. Sometimes articles get dragged on and the target audience might just be another gold blogger instead of a reader who isn’t over 20k. Although feel free to write how ever much you want.
At what rate would content be desired to be submitted? Once a day? Once a week?
We’ll let the writers manage themselves on this. Write as often or as little as you want. Most may want to start out with one article per week and go from there.
Will you provide a subject for a post to be written on something more specific than just making gold?
Not on a consistent basis. The topic can be anything really. I can always suggest ideas, usually anything new in WoW, such as new patches and related articles for each of the professions. For non gold related posts, it can be some sort of big picture, economic theory stuff . Other articles would be guides for doing certain things in the game, a basis on what players are interested at the time. An example of this would be how to do the new hyjal daily’s to unlock the new recipes or the whole PvP season 10 gear drama.
